Maintaining a cutting board is important to keep it in great condition for years. Here are some tips for maintaining:
Clean the board after each use: Wash the board with warm, soapy water, and rinse it thoroughly. Dry the board completely with a clean cloth.
Sanitise the board: Use a solution of 1 tablespoon of white vinegar per 2 litres of water to sanitise the board or use a food-safe sanitiser such as hydrogen peroxide. Allow the solution to sit on the board for several minutes, then rinse the board thoroughly and dry it completely.
Oil the board:Regularly oil the board with a food-safe oil such as walrus oil or mineral oil. Bees wax additionally creates a superb barrier. This will help keep the board hydrated and prevent it from cracking.
Store the board properly:Store the board in a cool, dry place, and avoid stacking heavy objects on top of it.
